Flow Yoga Class - 60 minutes, a balanced slow flow class for all levels. We only make one transition from the floor to standing, so the pace is suitable for beginners and those in bigger bodies or with injuries. Modifications are offered for shapes and for injury. Don't like downward facing dog? No worries, we have the perfect standing alternative! This is a lovely class with all the elements of flow, classical yoga and of course a lovely "Savasana" (relaxation) at the end.
Yin Yoga Class - 60 mins Yin Yoga is a practice done mainly on the floor using props (no need for anything special at home, I give lots of ideas of what you might use) It works with deep stretch, time (postures are held for 3-5 minutes) and 'edge' (cultivating the skill of listening to your body and how much sensation in the stretch is right for you). This practice focus's on connective tissue, the bigger joints and the fascia in the body. A deep and delicious stretch suitable for all levels with lots of modifications!
Restorative Class - 60 mins This class is relax, restore and soothe your nervous system. Again focusing on floor based practice, we sink into longer held postures, but unlike Yin Yoga the focus is on total relaxation and restoration. Pure bliss to totally calm your body and mind.
These classes are also broken down into shorter segments if you need a quicker practice!
1. Savasana (10 mins)
2. Centreing (10 mins)
3. Warm up (10 minutes AM get moving class)
1. 5 minutes anytime meditation
2. 8 minutes "dealing with difficult feelings" meditation
Sarah was the first yogi in Australia to offer yoga for bigger bodies. She has practised yoga for more than 20 years and has been running specialist classes and retreats for the last few years all over Australia.
Sarah is the author of the book "Fat Yoga, Yoga for All Bodies" published in 2017.
Her classes are for most levels, but also incorporate modifications for many common injuries like knees or lower back pain. The classes are body positive and do not involve much "up and down" off the floor (just once!)
Even if you can't do "downward dog" this is the class for you! We have "Wall Dog" which is a wonderful choice.
